James Gaisford grew up In Salt Lake City, Utah and now lives in Los Angeles, CA.
James is proud to say he is a working actor! He started doing films at the age of 15 and fell in love with it- who wouldn’t love playing make believe?
James is a serial hobby-ist. He loves learning new things: hat making, boxing, singing, fencing, bull whipping, motorcycling, cooking, and travel to name a few. He also spends a lot of time with his dog.
He also spends a lot of time with his dog.
James grew up with the Swan Princess. It is truly one of his favorite childhood films.
James actually had an incident reenacting the catch and fire bow and arrow scene with a cousin. When he was about 8 or 9 he thought he could turn around and catch the arrow like Derek did in the movie. He ended up taking an arrow in his knee.
While we don't recommend trying this at home, we are impressed with James' fan commitment!
Derek's character resonates most with James. He loves the determination Derek shows but also that he is not perfect. James thinks the lesson Derek learned in the movie's opening scene, that there’s much more to women than their beauty, is a great lesson for boys to learn.
James considers himself a huge nerd! He loves escapism films such as, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones.
Recently James played the role of Derek in The Swan Princess live action concept trailer! We love that the character could be brought to life by a true fan!
Watching James run around and search the sky with his bow and arrow was so exciting because he was so passionate about playing the role.
James says "It was so fun to play Derek and to feel like a little kid again running through the woods :) "
James was also able to attend our 25th anniversary celebration and pose on the pink carpet with costar London Kress (Odette in the Live Action Concept Trailer).
Thank you to James for being part of the Swan Princess family!
