Odette's Summer of Adventure
Special Needs Field Day
All of the special needs schools in the area were invited to join a huge field day celebration! Obstacle courses, just like Derek and JeanBob's were run as well as games and delicious snacks.
Odette loved cheering the athletes on!
Mascot Miracles Foundation Stick Horse Rodeo
One of Princess Odette's favorite events of the year is the Mascot Miracles Foundation Stick Horse Rodeo! Children with life threatening illnesses adopt a toy stick horse that has been lovingly handmade for them be volunteers, then they learn how to ride them and compete in rodeo events from real life rodeo stars!
In between events guests enjoyed a petting zoo filled with baby animals. The baby draft horse was a special favorite.
Odette made friends with a little cowboy who had made a lucky charm from some of the hair off a stick horse's tail. Odette was excited to show him a horsemanship tradition. Many skilled riders make their own lucky charms from tail or mane hair of their favorite horses. They put them on key-chains and jewelry to keep them close at all times. She showed him a key-chain from a cowgirl and her horse, Laurie and Remi. He was excited to carry on the tradition and promised to take very good care of his lucky charm!
Princess Odette thinks the very best part of the rodeo is the Angel Horse Ride. She is so incredibly honored to get to participate each year.
After pony rides, mechanical bull riding, barrel racing, and roping, the perfect day was finished with lunch and ice cream.
Dream Night at the Zoo
Once a year Utah's Hogle Zoo invited children with life threatening illnesses to a day at the zoo just for them. They get to feed the animals like the giraffes and the rhinos. There's carnival games and this year there was even a dog show with dogs doing incredible tricks! Just like Queen Uberta's dogs! One could even do a double back flip!
Odette and her royal friends posed by the honorary boards of a bridge where some of their favorite charities are listed: Millie's Princess Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, and the Mascot Miracles Foundation.
