About the Swan Princess

The Swan Princess® is a classic animated film based on the folk tale and ballet, Swan Lake. Sony Pictures, Nest Entertainment and Rich Animation Studios joined forces in the early nineties to create this masterpiece, which took over 300 artists five years to complete. The film was released in theaters in 1994 but most of the fans watched it at home when it released on VHS in 1995. It was the number one selling video in the US upon it original release.

The Swan Princess remains one of the strongest independent Princess franchises in the world. Princess Odette is an icon of strength and focus on inner beauty.

Her adventures have continued with sequels: The Secret of the Castle (1997), The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure (1998), The Swan Princess Christmas (2012) and A Royal Family Tale (2014), Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today (2016), Royally Undercover (2017), A Royal Myztery (2018), The Kingdom of Music (2019), A Royal Wedding (2020) and will continue in the 11th feature film being released in 2023.

The Swan Princess is one of only a few major franchises with 10 or more full feature movies. The entire series has been Directed by Richard Rich, Written by Brian Nissen, and Produced by Seldon O Young and Jared F Brown.

The original Swan Princess film was the last animated feature-length film to be released in theaters that was created entirely of the traditional hand-drawn animation. The production art pieces are an incredible piece of history that we offer to fans in our store.
