This year at The Swan Princess we have been working hard to move all of our inventory into a brand new warehouse! Preparations for this have included organizing all of our art cels and pencil sketches for easier transport and storage. As we have been sorting through the incredible animation museum that is our warehouse, we have found some really incredible and unique pieces of Swan Princess history that were just too swanderful to not share with our amazing fans! Therefore, we would like to proudly present our new series:
Awesome Things We Found in the Warehouse Today!
We love following the creative process of the animators as they designed each of the iconic characters. This month we're following the design process of Queen Uberta's nose! Her nose is arguably the most recognizable feature of her face and it went through many changes before it became the Uberta we know and love.
This is a rough sketch of Uberta from the planning of the scenes of "This is My Idea". You can see her her facial profile but the most fun part of this sketch is the other nose options the animator was practicing for her to the left of the image.
This layout sketch, also from the planning of "This is My Idea" shows Uberta with a completely different nose from the ones above along with different lips to match.
This is storyboard art that has Uberta sporting a longer, thicker nose with a smaller hairstyle and a more square chin.
We're getting closer! Here Uberta has all the facial features that made it into the final film- except her nose. It has the same basic shape but has more of a bump to the top lines.
Here they tried a much smaller nose and we think its funny that in this pose you can see straight up her nose!
And, finally, the nose and face that make up the beautiful final version of Queen Uberta from the film. Which of Queen Uberta's many noses is your favorite?
Color options include purple argyle, teal green argyle, and black and red argyle, and now, once again, PINK argyle!
One piece is approximately 100x42 inches (2.5 yards).

Dear Diary:
My search for more information about my mother has been pause for the moment, mostly because I was chosen to be Bridget and Chamberlain’s wedding planner! I feel greatly honored, not only am I her maid of honor but the one to plan her special day! I’m glad she trusts me with such a grand task. I’ve asked them both about locations first, but they weren’t too sure. Should it be close and be in Chamberg? Should it be at the castle at Swan Lake? Or would it be none and we sail away to a far away land for a destination wedding? After some talking, at the very least they wouldn’t want to sail away for it, but Chamberlain felt like if it was in Uberta’s kingdom, he would feel like he would still be at work. Leave it to Uberta to make the groom work for her on his big day. So it was decided we would have it be at Swan Lake! The castle is in disrepair and the garden is overgrown with no one having tended to it for so long, but I think this would be a great opportunity to start fixing it up! I have a lot of mixed feelings about being back at my prison, but I feel as though this would also be my opportunity to come to terms with it. Bridget was just as much of a prisoner of Rothbart as I was, and I think this could help us both heal as we continue in a new chapter in our life!
